Edition Metz and agglomeration | Moselle hospitals: angry at Paris but more united than ever

Tuesday morning, the directors of public, private and military hospitals of Sarreguemines, Forbach, Saint-Avold, Thionville or Metz met at the Mercy hospital to provide feedback on the health crisis they all have crossed in recent weeks. They expressed how effective the coordination of all the hospitals has been in “saving patients”. It should not be forgotten that in life before the epidemic, public and private hospitals were competing. This time, they submitted to “a common strategy to save lives”. All expressed their “fear” facing this unprecedented crisis in the Moselle.

The big firsts

In this department-wide pooling, it is the intelligence of men that has prevailed. The employees of the departments that closed strengthened the resuscitation teams and the Covid-19 medical services. All the hospitals that had resuscitation services pushed the walls to open beds. They exchanged men, materials and molecules. A great first. Today, everyone remains vigilant and ready to “rearm the beds” in the event of a second wave. Together, they say they are ready. “The resuscitation services maintain a much higher number of beds. ”

What will continue

This coordination will continue in the context of deconfinement. All hospitals are subject to a “general framework” by the Regional Health Agency (ARS). Responsiveness to the risk of a “second wave” is prescribed. This time the organization is already ready for follow-up and resuscitation care, which will be assigned to the Freyming-Merlebach hospital and to the Sarreguemines functional rehabilitation center for the Moselle-East. For Metz, the Belle-Isle hospital of HP Metz and the Claude-Bernard clinic are mobilized. In Lorraine-Nord, CHR Metz-Thionville and Legouest Hospital will work together.

Subjects that anger

“The Moselle does not exist in the eyes of Paris. Another topic that is unanimous. The appeal envelope, which only allocated € 2.4 million in the territory of the CHR, leaves all the players in the territory very bitter. They hope the second ARS installment will balance “this lack of equity.” Another annoying subject: the € 1,500 bonus awarded to nursing staff in public and military hospitals. The private sector has had no say. “It is total misunderstanding. Our employees are furious, ”explains Régis Moreau of HP Metz, who contacted the Ministry of Health. “It is not certain that, if there is a second wave, we manage to mobilize as many people,” concluded Gabriel Giacometti, director of Claude-Bernard and of the Moselle territory of the Elsan group.
