Edhy Prabowo spends Rp. 750 million luxury goods in the US, import duties have not been paid because they are confiscated by the KPK

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries who was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday (11/25/2020) in the early hours of the morning was found to have brought a number of luxury items with an estimated value of IDR 750 million at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, when Edhy and his entourage had just landed from a visit to Honolulu, United States.

The KPK also confiscated several items brought by Edhy and his entourage, namely a Specialized S-Works racing bicycle, a Rolex watch, a Jacob & Co. watch, a Hermes bag, a Tumi suitcase, as well as a Louis Vuitton suitcase and shoes.

The Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of the Ministry of Finance stated that Edhy had not yet paid import duty on luxury goods that were allegedly purchased during the official trip.

DJBC Director of International and Interagency Customs Syarif Hidayat said, before Edhy and his entourage fulfilled their customs obligations, their belongings had already been secured by the KPK.

“Regarding the luggage of passengers carried by the group of the Minister of KP before the fulfillment of customs obligations (customs clearance“The passenger’s luggage has been controlled / carried in the context of legal action by the KPK team,” said Syarif to Kompas.com, Thursday (26/11/2020).

Syarif also explained that his party did not know what items were brought by Edhy and his entourage.

He said he was still waiting for the KPK to follow up on the payment of import duty on the confiscated luxury goods.

“We are just waiting, so we don’t interfere with the investigation by the KPK,” explained Syarif.

Previously, KPK Deputy Chairman Nawawi Pamolango revealed that the bribes were used by Edhy Prabowo and his entourage to buy some shallots.

The money is earmarked for the needs of Edhy, Edhy’s wife named Iis Rosyati Dewi (IRD), Safri, and Andreau.

“Among other things, it is used for shopping for luxury goods by EP and IRD in Honolulu, US on November 21 to 23, 2020, amounting to around Rp. 750 million, including Rolex watches, Tumi and LV bags, Old Navy clothes,” said Nawawi.
