Last Tuesday the Ed Sheeran HQ Twitter account posted an image featuring Ed Sheeran’s name, with the Pokémon GO logo underneath. The hashtag accompanying this Tweet is #PokemonGOxEdSheeran.. This Tweet from Ed Sheeran got a retweet from the official Pokemon Go account, officially confirming the partnership. The official Pokémon account also responded under the tweet.
It is not yet clear exactly what the collaboration will look like. The most obvious is of course a new soundtrack or new music, created by Ed Sheeran.
The pop star has often collaborated, such as with Game of Thrones. Here it was not for his music, but for a cameo. There was only quite a bit of criticism, because the musician does not appear to be a very strong actor. In the new Netflix movie Red Notice he even jokes about that in another cameo. Details about the partnership between Pokémon Go and Sheeran will no doubt be announced.
Pokemon GO is still popular
Pokémon GO is in the news less often than it did a few years ago. However, the game is still very popular. Millions of players play the game every day and go out to catch new Pokémon. Pokémon GO is still working to keep its app as up-to-date as possible through in-game events. For example, earlier this month the upcoming release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl celebrated with an event.
