Ecuadorian Caicedo arrives at Tigres from the Mexican league

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Ecuadorian striker Jordy Caicedo became a first-division Tigres player for the 2022 Apertura tournament on Monday, the team confirmed.

Caicedo, 24, arrives on Mexican soil from CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria, where he spent the last year of his career.

The Mexican team did not release further details about the transfer.

The Ecuadorian player is Tigres’ first signing for the tournament that just started last weekend.

Caicedo will fight for a position in the university attack with the Venezuelan Jefferson Soteldo, the Colombian Luis Quiñones and the French Florian Thauvin and André-Pierre Gignac.

Caicedo occupies the place that became vacant with the departure of Paraguayan striker Carlos González, who emigrated to Toluca.

The Ecuadorian made his debut at Deportivo Azogues in his country and later played for the Catholic University, El Nacional, the Brazilian Vitoria and CSKA.
