eBay Lists NVIDIA H100 Accelerators at a Whopping $40,000 per Piece – Report by Overclockers.ru

NVIDIA’s dedicated compute accelerators are a very specific commodity to talk about in terms of their retail value, since they are usually sold to corporate customers through closed channels. However, as noted CNBCinterest in this topic was stirred up yesterday by well-known software developer John Carmack, who on Twitter told about the presence on the popular eBay online auction of several offers of NVIDIA H100 accelerators with the latest Hopper architecture at a price of about $40,000 per copy.

For comparison, the previous A100 solution with the Ampere architecture was estimated at $10,000 apiece, but for NVIDIA, multiple progress in the field of computing acceleration is a common thing, so a proportional increase in price is not so surprising. On the other hand, the speculative factor is clearly present, since the hype around generative artificial intelligence systems allows sellers to set appropriate prices.
