eBay defers commission payments to small and medium-sized businesses

The company was informed that currently small and medium-sized enterprises urgently need the support of the state and cooperation partners in order to continue trading. In response to the virus’ s rapid impact on the global economy, eBay has decided that all eBay sellers will be able to defer most commissions for a period of 30 days in the future.

More information about the suspension terms is available on the official eBay business customer website “export.ebay.com”, as well as in the e-mail sent to all users of the platform.

EBay also promises to protect sellers from downgrading in the event of late delivery and order cancellations between March 20 and June 20. As eBay explained, the initiative will help businesses reduce losses, given that platform user ratings have a direct impact on sales. However, if the seller’s performance improves during this period, it will be increased according to the previous rating system.

As explained by eBay, eBay will also provide businesses with a free eBay subscription during this period. To receive it, the seller must go through the eBay Business Development Program selection process. Any user of the platform can submit an application to opt out and receive a subscription to commercial services on the eBay for Business website.

“EBay’s main focus in the European, Baltic and global markets is on developing retail exports among small and medium-sized businesses. We are aware that many sellers are currently trying to cope with a myriad of orders and successfully execute them in a rapidly changing national pandemic. “Reduced cargo deliveries and also the delivery of various delivery services have been delayed,” said Ilya Kretov, eBay’s General Manager for Global Development Markets.

eBay Inc. is a global online trading platform founded in 1995 in San Jose, California, and is currently one of the largest e-commerce sites offering an international selection of products from sellers around the world.
