Early 2022, Dengue Fever Cases in Demak Rise, 1 Died

Demak, IDN Times – Cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Demak Regency, Central Java continue to increase. The increase occurred since the last three months.

1. Cases increase since October 2021

The Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Demak District Health Office, Heri Winarno, said the graph of dengue cases continued to increase, especially in January 2022. It was recorded that until the middle of the month, there were 25 cases of dengue fever, of which one patient died.

“Starting from October 2021 there will be 1 case, then November 2021 there will be 9 cases. Then in December 2021 there were 11 cases, until this month (January 2022) there were 25 cases. In January 2022, one patient died,” he said Radio Republic of Indonesia, Friday (21/1/2022).

Meanwhile, the map of the distribution of dengue cases includes Mranggen District, Demak Kota District, Karanganyar District, Karangawen District, Sayung District, and Wedung District.

Separately, the Head of Marketing and Medical Records at the Sunan Kalijaga Demak Hospital, Abdul Rohman, explained that the surge in DHF patients had occurred since December 2021. However, until Wednesday (19/1/2022), the number of patients being treated had decreased.

“Last December 2021, the peak reached 36 patients. Since the beginning of January 2022 until now we are still treating 9 patients,” he said.

3. The public is advised to be active in PSN

Heri added that the peak of the rainy season is predicted to occur in January-February 2022. His party appealed to the public to eradicate mosquito nests (PSN) around their homes.

“Drain the water reservoir at least once a week so that no mosquito larvae are found. In addition, used goods around the house that have the potential to hold water must also be removed,” he said.
