EA shared source code for accessibility options for Mirrors Edge Catalyst and EA Sports FC 24

Electronic Arts expanded initiative to provide accessibility tools and technologies. Open source accessibility options EA Sports FC 24Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst и EA Sports WRC can now be used for free by third party developers.

The initiative appeared in 2021, which included features from Apex Legends. New source code includes the IRIS light sensitivity analysis tool and route guidance system, which first appeared in Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.

IRIS is designed for ease of access and automatically analyzes and identifies footage that could potentially affect players with light sensitivity. Other patents include an automated control system, an adaptive training system with personalized recommendations, and an animated personalized coach that offers information both in and out of the game.

EA hopes that the initiative will help reduce barriers for players with disabilities. Kerry Hopkins, senior vice president of global affairs, spoke about this.
