‘EA not making new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game’ – Gaming – News

Rumors have it that a new Knights of the Old Republic game is being worked on, a game set in the Star Wars universe. EA and BioWare would not be involved. It is not yet clear which studio will be responsible for the project.

Star Wars-insider Bespin Bulletin says Having heard from multiple sources that there is a new one Dirtygame is being developed and EA is not involved in it. That means the game is not made by BioWare. Late last year Hintte game journalist Jason Schreider that there is a new Kotor project in development somewhere, of which ‘no one will guess’ who is making it.

Earlier this month, it became clear that EA no longer has an exclusive license to make Star Wars games. That was evident from one announcement from Ubisoft. Massive Entertainment, the studio behind Tom Clancy’s The Division, is working on a new open-world game set in the Star Wars universe. Details about this are not yet known.

Disney released earlier in January Lucasfilm Games new life. Among other things, new Star Wars games are being developed under this banner, in collaboration with other publishers and studios. EA had an exclusive license to create Star Wars games on behalf of Disney since 2012.

Years ago there were rumors of a remake of Kotor, which should have been released in 2016. Those plans would have been put on hold, but at the beginning of 2020 there was a rumor that development had resumed and that it may have been a completely new game.

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games are single player RPGs. The first volume was released in 2003 and was made by BioWare. The second volume, The Sith Lords, was released in 2005 and was developed by Obsidian Entertainment. BioWare also had a third part in development, but that project has been scrapped.
