On his official site, Electronic Arts announced that its services EA Access and Origin Access will soon be grouped under the new term EA Play Pro. The change will take place on August 18 next.
With this transition, EA plans to refresh the image of its subscription services. The goal is therefore to consolidate the two brands under a single identity to avoid confusion among players. By the same token, EA will improve the user experience with the addition of challenges and exclusive rewards for its games. A tactic already in place with competitors like Steam or Uplay.
An example given is getting packets Ultimate Team Packs for sports games after completing a challenge. There will also be cosmetic items to unlock this way. FIFA 21, Madden NFL 21 and Star Wars: Squadrons will be part of the EA Play service and will also offer unique rewards.
EA Play is also promising special subscriber content, early access to popular upcoming games, instant access to a collection of classic titles and an overall 10% discount on EA digital purchases (DLCs and games).
