EA Access and Origin will be renamed to EA Play

Today Electronic Arts announced that their subscription services EA Access and EA Origin will jointly continue under the name EA Play. The Premier version of Origin will now be called EA Play Pro. The publisher tries to bring the names into line with each other. In the past, digital events were also organized under the EA Play Live name.

Additionally, it has also been announced that EA Play will launch on Steam on August 31, bringing the total number of platforms on which the service is available to four.

If you are a member of the subscription service you can try out new releases from the publisher for 10 hours and in addition there are a good stack of older titles available to play within the subscription. With the Play Pro variant, you get access to all new EA titles at launch. In addition, there are a lot of perks such as discounts on purchases, exclusive challenges and in-game items.

Incidentally, Venturebeat journalist Jeff Grub indicated not too long ago that EA Play will also be part of Microsoft’s Game Pass service, which would make it an even better deal. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
