E-TOLL – a new toll system on the A2 and A4 motorways. How it works? How to pay? Everything you need to know

On December 1, the barriers on the state toll sections A2 and A4 were opened. Light vehicle drivers can pay for their tolls using the e-TOLL app or the motorway e-ticket. You will learn how it all looks in practice from the material from the TVN Turbo program “Raport”.

Two forms of the motorway e-ticket are available: electronic and paper. The paper version of the ticket can be purchased at selected petrol stations. The motorway e-ticket can be purchased 60 days in advance. Its validity period is 48 hours from the declared date and time of travel.

New toll system – how do the applications work?

There are also dedicated phone applications. There are two applications on the platforms: e-TOLL PL and e-TOLL PL BILET. The latter is a simpler application aimed at those who rarely drive the motorway, explains the author of the material, Mikołaj Borcowski from TVN Turbo.

In the e-TOLL PL TICKET, it is enough to provide the route (where we enter the motorway, where we exit), car data (vehicle category, registration number) and payment card.

The E-TOLL was launched at the end of June. Back then, drivers struggled with a more complicated version of the application.

A2 and A4 motorways – new toll system

Passenger cars and motorcycles are transferred to A2 Konin-Stryków and A4 Bielany Wrocławskie-Sośnica without having to stop in front of the barriers in the so-called free flow mode.

The changes concern only two sections of motorways managed by GDDKiA: A2 Konin-Stryków and A4 Bielany Wrocławskie-Sośnica.

On the remaining sections of concession motorways, i.e. A1, A2 and A4, no changes are made to the method of payment for the toll.

Driving on the highway free of charge. Penalties

For driving on the state sections of A2 and A4 without paying a toll, an additional fee of PLN 500 is imposed with a payment period of 14 days. If the additional fee is paid within 7 days from the date of delivery of the summons, its amount is reduced to PLN 400. The additional fee will not be charged if the toll is paid by purchasing the motorway e-ticket within three days from the end of the trip.

The driver’s actions aimed at preventing the proper reading of the vehicle’s registration plates (covering, decorating, adding additional signs, etc.) are also threatened with a criminal fine.
