Dynamo Dresden Fans Demand Exclusion of RB Leipzig from Cancer Aid Fan Tournament

Dynamo Dresden supporters traditionally do not speak well of RB Leipzig. That’s why parts of the fan scene via Instagram are calling for participants from the trade fair city to be excluded from a fan tournament as part of cancer aid.

Cancer aid fan tournament takes place in Dresden

Under the motto “Football fans in training“An amateur tournament is taking place this Saturday on the training ground next to the Dresden stadium, the aim of which is to get football club supporters excited about fitness. The “FFIT” event is an annual part of a nationwide campaign that will become a permanent one motivated by a healthy lifestyle.

Dresden fans demand “immediate exclusion” from RB

The field of participants includes fans of professional clubs. From the Bundesliga, for example, there are supporters of Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, 1. FC Cologne – and RB Leipzig. Dynamo Dresden, as last year’s defending champions, is now hosting the event. Leipzig’s participation is now a thorn in the side of the fans from the state capital. They demand “the immediate exclusion of the team from Leipzig”.

And not just this year, when Dynamo is the defending champion of the fun tournament. But also “at all other comparable events in the future”. Regardless of the fact that Dynamo Dresden is not the organizer itself. The German Cancer Aid Foundation and the Kiel Institute for Therapy and Health Research are behind the tournament.

Victory in the cup as a holiday

Historically, the fan camps from Saxony’s two largest cities are rivals, but the only duel on a sporting level was a long time ago. In 2016, Dynamo visited RB Leipzig in the first round of the DFB Cup and inflicted a heavy defeat on the team then coached by Ralph Hasenhüttl. “Since then, August 20th has been considered a black and yellow holiday in Dynamoland,” the Ultras propagate.

The authors proudly point out that at that time the guests’ jerseys featured “Feldi instead of Brause” to promote beer consumption from the Feldschlößschen brewery instead of Red Bull. Now the fan scene has “painfully learned” that “marketing experts are making us forget our hard-won values.”
