DxOMark Tests the Camera of the iPhone SE (2020), What are the Results?

Technologue.id, Jakarta – DxOMark benchmarking site has just released a review of the power of the main camera and selfie camera on the iPhone SE.

Although labeled as an inexpensive iPhone version, the iPhone SE adopts camera hardware that resembles the iPhone XR. Namely a 12MP sensor with f / 1.8 aperture, phase-detection autofocus, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and up to 5X digital zoom.

Meanwhile, the selfie camera is equipped with a 7MP sensor with f / 2.2 aperture and fixed focus lens. In today’s smartphone camera standards, these features are indeed very basic settings.

According to DxOMark, overall, the iPhone SE is very good in lighting and contrast measurements. HDR automatically works well in this field, so as to produce brilliant indoor and outdoor images. On the other hand, Autofocus works powerfully, quickly, and consistently, even though the sharpness is clearer in low light shots. DxOMark rate, noise and texture to be one of the weaknesses in the camera on the iPhone SE.

The 12MP sensor is currently rivaled by high resolution sensors that use pixel binning to reduce noise and improve low light performance. Noise and minimal detail will be more clearly seen in indoor shots or high contrast.

DxOMark also notes, photography low-light is not the power of the iPhone SE. There is no special Night mode on SE.
