Duty Free store in Mockava

For several months now, a train has been running from Vilnius via Kaunas and Marijampolė to Poland on the Vilnius-Moscow-Warsaw-Krakow route. This route is popular among Lithuanians. A number of Marijampolians also take part in it. A great opportunity for those who want to see the beauty of Poland’s big cities. The only downside of this trip is that passengers have to change to another Polish train at the Mockava railway station. You have to wait for him while standing on a gloomy, narrow platform without any roof. Passengers are not happy about it.

AB “Lietuvos geležinkeliai” takes care of making the transfer to the next train as comfortable as possible for passengers. There were discussions as to whether a railway station building should be opened in Mockava, where passengers could warmly wait for the train.

According to the representatives of the company “LTG Link”, which takes care of passenger transportation, the opening of the railway station building is not considered yet. However, the company aims to ensure sustainable, comfortable and safe train travel both today and in the future. The company regularly evaluates the needs of passengers, the services provided, and continues an extremely broad policy of price offers and customer services.

Therefore, it was decided to open a small branch of the popular chain of stores “Duty Free” in the Mockava railway station building for the convenience of passengers. “While waiting for the train, so that the wait will not be long, passengers will be able to stop by the shop for a short time, where they will find the basic assortment of this chain: drinks, sweets, other food products, as usual – perfumes, souvenirs,” LTG Link representatives said. Only travelers will be able to shop in the store, they will have to present their train ticket at the counter.

At the moment, it is being decided in which part of the building the store would be located, what repairs would be needed, what infrastructure works to be performed. The store is planned to open at the beginning of summer.
