The reason for the warning are two incidents in which airliners encountered problems with the altitude and speed indications immediately after take-off. The Transavia and TUI fly aircraft were out of service for a while prior to the incident due to the corona pandemic.
In one of the mentioned incidents a cover was not removed, in the other incident some pipes were not connected correctly. In both cases, this resulted in the pilots being presented with incorrect altitude and speed information.
With the warning issued on Thursday, the research council wants to alert airlines to the safety risks that can arise when aircraft are put back into use after a period of standstill. This is expected to happen frequently in the coming months with the relaxation of the corona measures.
