Dutch payment service Mollie is now worth more than 1 billion euros | NOW

The American investment company TCV takes a minority interest in the Dutch payment service provider Mollie for 90 million euros, the company confirms after reporting from the American website TechCrunch. The investment brings the company’s value to more than 1 billion euros.

It makes Mollie a so-called unicorn, a company whose investors believe is worth at least € 1 billion. With the money from the investment company, which previously took an interest in Netflix and Airbnb, among others, founder Mol wants to grow further abroad.

Mollie was founded in 2004. The company focuses on payment processing and is somewhat similar to Adyen. The company has the wind in its sails, partly because web shopping has boomed due to the corona crisis.

The payment service focuses mainly on small and medium-sized companies and now has more than a hundred thousand customers. This mainly concerns customers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, including Deliveroo and UNICEF.

Last year, Mollie already managed to raise 25 million euros in an investment round.
