Dutch Goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen’s Fatal Mistake Costs NEC Nijmegen the Match

Dutch international Jasper Silesen, goalkeeper of “NEC Nijmegen”, caused his team to lose after conceding a goal at the fatal time, in a very strange and comical way.

Nijmegen was defeated by its guest, Heerenveen, 2-3, in the match that took place at the Du Gover stadium, yesterday, Saturday, in the 31st round of the Dutch Football League.

And 3 minutes before the end of the match, Antoine Colasan, the striker of Heerenveen, hit a weak ball towards Cillessen, who paid a heavy price for not appreciating the correct trajectory of the ball.

Cillessen thought that the ball was on its way out of the goal, to leave it in order to gain some time, before he was shocked by hitting the post and then entering the goal.

The 34-year-old Dutch goalkeeper was very disappointed, shock appeared on his face, and he hit the post with his head.

Cillessen’s colleagues rushed to console him, at a time when Kolasan was busy celebrating the winning goal, which he scored by luck, in the 87th minute.

The video clip spread widely on social media, and the number of its viewers is close to the one million mark.

Nijmegen is currently ranked tenth in the Dutch league table with 38 points, while Heerenveen has risen to ninth place by reaching point No. 41.

Cillessen returned to his mother team, Nijmegen, with whom he began his professional career, in August 2022, after playing for Ajax, Barcelona and Valencia.

After being excluded from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with the former coach of the Netherlands national team, Louis van Gaal, Cillessen returned again to represent the “mills” with Ronald Koeman, as he participated against France and Gibraltar in the qualifiers for the European Nations Cup (Euro 2024).
