Dutch festival Pinkpop also postponed to 2022: “American acts don’t want to tour yet” | Festivals

FestivalsThe 51st edition of the Dutch festival Pinkpop will not take place this year either. The organization will let you know in a statement. Because major acts canceled their participation in the festival, Pinkpop will not take place again until 2022. Pearl Jam has already been confirmed as a headliner.

“With pain in our hearts, we unfortunately have to move the 51st edition of Pinkpop for another year,” the organization said on Tuesday afternoon. Due to the cancellation of Pearl Jam, and earlier also Post Malone, the line-up for this year became very thin. “We don’t know for sure whether the other acts can come in June, the uncertainties are too great. Hence, we have had to make this sad decision, but we cannot and do not want to wait any longer. We no longer want to leave our visitors, crew and suppliers in a lack of clarity. ”

Although there is now a lot of vaccination and there were positive reports, organizing the festival still appears to be too difficult. “Despite the route taken to the old normal, American acts in particular are reluctant to continue their tour this year. In our view it is partly for this reason that it is not possible to organize Pinkpop this year according to our standards and requirements. We have seriously looked at alternatives, such as moving the festival to later in the summer, but despite the support of the guarantee fund, this is not feasible for us for several reasons. ”

In the meantime, the organization has already been able to tie Pearl Jam as one of the headliners in 2022. The 51st edition of Pinkpop will take place on 17, 18 and 19 June 2022 at Megaland in Landgraaf. Tickets remain valid, but visitors can also get their money back if they are unwilling or unable to wait.
