Dutch car sales revive in July | NOW

In the Netherlands, 34,885 new passenger cars were registered in July, an increase of 4 percent compared to the same month a year earlier. BOVAG, RAI Association and data provider RDC will announce this on Saturday.

The industry associations speak of the first catch-up since the start of the corona crisis. However, the greater number of registrations last month is not yet sufficient to catch up with 2019.

Up to and including July, 192,868 new cars were registered, 25.6 percent less compared to last year. BOGAG and RAI Vereniging therefore adjusted their sales forecast for 2020 in July downwards: from 425,000 to 350,000 copies.

Volkswagen was the market leader in July with 4,075 units, partly because the Polo was registered most often with 1,371 units last month. BMW took second place with 2,726 new passenger cars, while KIA is in third place with 2,511 units. SKODA and Peugeot complete the top five.

The subsidy for the purchase of electric cars was also available for the first time in July. The Chinese MG in particular benefited from this. The electric ZE EV was registered 501 times, good for a place in the top fifteen.
