Düsseldorf: The open-air cinema on the Rhine ends after 53 events – Ddorf-Aktuell

In a figurative sense, the last curtain fell at the alltours Kino on Tuesday (August 31) and the 2021 season in the Rheinpark ended on schedule. For six weeks, 40 films from different genres were shown on the 400 square meter screen and DJ sets, concerts and events were organized. Organizer D.LIVE was pleased to be able to offer an event location for visitors again and looks back with satisfaction on the 2021 season.

The start of the cinema and the cinema beach was overshadowed by the flooding in Düsseldorf. The around 100 tons of sand, which were supposed to create the beach atmosphere for the guests, were spontaneously given a new use and were filled into sacks for flood protection. Fortunately, the flooding of the Rhine went smoothly for the cinema, so that the cinema summer could finally start on July 21st. 40 films from the fields of action, drama, comedy, history, family or love offered something for every taste. Special delicacies were the two NRW premieres of “The Wedding Tailor of Athens” and “The Rose Garden of Madame Vernet”, for which the film stars were exclusively live on site, and the total of twelve NRW premieres.

The Kino Beach was popular with guests before the films, but also for other events

In addition to the film screenings, there were other events such as seven live concerts and four DJ sets in the Kino Beach. The concerts were organized and carried out in cooperation with the BürgerStiftung Düsseldorf, the Rotary Club Düsseldorf and a concert in cooperation with RedBull. Die Toten Hosen, who played an exclusive surprise concert on August 9th in the alltours cinema, provided a highlight. Initially only a reading by Campino from his book “How I became an English master” was announced. Despite pouring rain, the audience celebrated the surprise exuberantly.

Evening mood on the Rhine in the Kinobeach and alltours cinema

Michael Brill, CEO of D.LIVE: “We finally had the opportunity to make events possible again on behalf of the entire live industry. Concerts, readings, cinema, culture – all of this has found a place in our unique open-air location and has given the industry an impetus to restart. We were able to experience an enthusiastic audience and were able to make it clear that live events are safe, convenient and exciting for everyone under the 3G rules. “
