During a sliding festival in Tignes, two avalanches were set off – VIDEO

It’s not often that you see an avalanche so close, so two… Yet that’s what happened to Swedish skier Jesper Tjäder on Wednesday. He is in the Savoyard resort of Tignes at the moment to participate in the Mountain Shaker sliding festival, which also hosts the Slopestyle World Cup from Thursday. While on the chairlift with friends, he filmed two impressive snowslides.

Contacted, the slopes service of the Savoyard resort confirms the two avalanches but relativize the event. “They did not threaten property or people“, explains Frédéric Bonnevie, the director of the slopes service. “These two avalanches were triggered naturally. It’s impressive because the aerosol snow goes up high, but there is no risk. In addition, there is a big hill just before the track where the modules are.
