Cologne / Düren – His Ferris wheel has long since become a ghost train for him. For showman Robert Gormanns (39), the forced Corona break has now lasted over a year. Easter fair – not in sight. The effects are dramatic.
“We now have to slowly sell resources,” says the family man sadly. “On offer is our truck-mounted crane, which we need to set up the Ferris wheel and which we purchased four years ago.”

Gormanns does the math: The crane cost around 170,000 euros and is loan-financed. 110,000 euros are open. In the event of a sale, almost 60,000 euros are expected to remain, which are also taxable. The rest is enough for the next few months.
Loans instead of hype
As a replacement, the smart showman got his oldie crane back on the road. It also creates the structure, but more slowly. And (construction) time at the fair is money.
