Former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The musician announced this in a letter that was read over the weekend in Los Angeles.
Andy Taylor, former Duran Duran guitarist has cancer. The 61-year-old says he has prostate cancer. “Many families have experienced the slow burning of this disease, and obviously ours is no different,” Taylor wrote in a letter read at the band’s induction ceremony in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Los Angeles over the weekend. He himself could not be there due to his poor health.
The guitarist wrote that the cancer (stage four) was diagnosed about four years ago. “Although my current condition is not immediately life-threatening, there is no cure,” said the letter, which can also be found on the band’s website.

The “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” is located in Cleveland, Ohio; however, the inauguration ceremony took place in Los Angeles. Along with Duran Duran, country icon Dolly Parton, rapper Eminem and soul singer Lionel Richie have also been inducted into the Hall of Fame. The condition for inclusion is that the release of the first album must have taken place at least 25 years ago.
In addition to the votes of artists and experts, votes for a venue also include votes from fans. The celebration will air on November 19th on pay-TV HBO aired.

The Birmingham band around singer Simon Le Bon was founded in 1978. In 1980 Andy Taylor joined the band. In 1986 he left them again. Duran Duran have written pop classics like “Girls On Film”, “The Wild Boys” or “A View To A Kill”. In the mid-1980s he was also part of the Power Station band, led by Robert Palmer. Andy Taylor returned to Duran Duran from 2001 to 2006. The band is still there. A year ago he released his album “Future Past”.
