Dunkirk Faces Key Defensive Setback Ahead of ASSE Match

ASSE will host Dunkirk on Wednesday October 4 at 6:45 p.m. in a late match on the 7th day of the championship. One of the centerpieces of the northern club will miss this meeting!

ASSE is riding a positive dynamic after its two victories in Caen and Concarneau. While the air of Normandy and Brittany seemed to suit Laurent Batlles’ troops, it is on the Aube side that the people of Saint-Etienne will have to prove that they really know how to travel.

This Saturday, they will challenge Troyes on home soil with their sights set on the 3 points of a victory which would put ASSE at the top of Ligue 2.

It will then be time to turn to the meeting of the Greens at Geoffroy Guichard who have not played in the Chaudron since September 2. It will be against Dunkirk, just promoted from National 1.

This match will be played in a stadium deprived of its two clubs after the clashes which broke out in Rodez during the month of August during the 2nd day of the championship.

If they will suffer from the absence of their supporters, the Stéphanois will console themselves a little by learning that the Dunkirk will be deprived of one of their key pieces in central defense. Indeed, their young central defender, Hugo Gambor, will be suspended after receiving 3 yellow cards in a period including 10 matches.

Hugo Gambor, aged 21, is an important part of the USLD. Last winter, several German clubs were in the running to sign him, including Eintracht Frankfurt. The northern defender is renowned for his ability to win his duels and his high quality of recovery. While Batlles could once again be able to count on a full attack line with the return of Ibrahima Wadji, the Greens will have all the arguments to make their opponent fold.
