Duke in quarantine: “I no longer count days” – football

Andreas Herzog is still in quarantine. The Israeli team leader came out of his apartment in Tel Aviv on Saturday and wants to get back to his family as soon as possible.

Austria’s record team player flew to Israel on 5 March to prepare for the play-offs for the last European Championship tickets, and has since been quarantined in his apartment in Tel Aviv.

“I am fine according to the circumstances,” said Herzog to ORF. “I’ve been in quarantine for a few days, over a week – I don’t count the days at all, otherwise I’ll go crazy – but that’s just my job.”

Herzog should not leave his apartment until the end of next week. The preparation of the Israeli national team for the play-off tournament in Scotland should have already started.

But this may not happen anymore. Because on Tuesday, UEFA meets with its member associations for a telephone crisis meeting. “My future also depends on it,” said the Viennese.

“To be honest, I am happy when I come back and can see my family again,” Herzog hopes to return to Vienna soon.

The entry of the 52-year-old from Vienna was only made possible by an exceptional permit from the Israeli Ministry of Health.
