Dubai ∙ Dubai Expo City will gather dust this time for Ramadan celebration. Here, visitors can have nostalgic Ramadan experiences in the UAE and beyond. From March 3 to April 25, Expo City Dubai is organizing the ‘Hi Ramadan’ event.
Officials said that the attractive atmosphere and delicious food will be a real celebration of the holy month. Amna Abulhool, Executive Director, Expo City Dubai, said that ‘Hai Ramadan’ will bring different communities together during the holy month, just as Expo 2020 Dubai has brought the world together once again. We are excited that our visitors will be able to experience some of the world’s most famous and well-known Ramadan traditions in one place. The programs will be inspired by the Arabic word hi, which has a dual meaning of ‘neighborhood’ and ‘welcome’. It begins on March 3, the weekend before the UAE’s traditional celebration of Haq Al Laila, and lasts for more than 50 days. Hi Ramadan will take visitors on a cultural journey where they can share unique experiences from across the Islamic world. From local cuisine to international cuisine and attractive street food, it is available here. Visitors can sit together and sip food and drinks. It will reflect the joy of breaking the fast during the holy month and sharing food with loved ones.
Special facility for prayers
Believers are free to perform all prayers including the Isha prayer and subsequent Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers. After the Taraweeh prayer, the ancient Arab art of Hakawati will be performed. Folktales and tales of adventure, culture, religion and morality are unveiled here. In addition, there will be the presence of Expo City Dubai’s very own Misaharati (classic Ramadan performers who wake up the community with drumming and song to drink water before dawn and join in Suhoor).
Rashid and Latifah will arrive
Rashid and Latifah, the official mascots of Expo 2020 Dubai, will arrive at Al Wasl Plaza for a family-friendly theater show. Children of all ages will also have the opportunity to join workshops and games to learn about elements of Emirati culture and the values of Ramadan, such as kindness, compassion, empathy and dedication. Sports tournaments will be organized for seniors to promote a healthy lifestyle. Games, fitness and wellness activations will be featured. Officials also informed that the details of the programs of Hi Ramazan will be published soon.
Admission is free
Admission to Hi Ramadan is free for gatherings of family and friends, including the Al Wasl Show and sports activities. There are fees for some workshops and games only. Hi Ramadan programs are from 4 pm to 10 pm before the start of Ramadan and from 5 pm to 2 am during Ramadan.
