The water situation is poor. The first phase of the Jianan irrigation area (including the Zengwen, Wushantou, and Baihe reservoir irrigation areas) has been fallow for 2 consecutive years. The disaster emergency response team of the Ministry of Economic Affairs held the third working meeting yesterday. , due to poor rainfall and severe water conditions in the south, it has been decided to adjust to the yellow light for decompression water supply in Chiayi area and the orange light for reduced water supply in Tainan area from March 1. In response to poor water conditions, Tainan has already activated drought relief wells, etc. With many anti-drought measures, it is estimated that water supply will be available until August.
In order to fight drought and save water, the relevant units have been tense for a long time, but God just doesn’t help; due to the long drought and no rain, the flood detention pond in Liantan, Nanke LM District has dried up, at least 1 or 2 months earlier than in previous years. Residents said that in their impression, the detention ponds will only dry up in 2019 and 2021, and usually last until March and April without any problem, as evidenced by the drought.
