On Thursday evening, the Norwegian hotel mogul Petter Stordalen (60) invited famous guests to the opening of his new hotel in Gothenburg.
With a red carpet, expensive dinner and party, the new Clarion Hotel Draken was duly celebrated, writes The Express. The hotel rises 104 meters above the ground.
Present at the party were several well-known actors, artists and influencers.
Among them the Swedish pop favorite Victor Leksell, former Swedish minister Leif Pagrotsky and Sweden’s «R&B queen» Cherrie, according to Gothenburg Post (GP).
Stordalen arrived at the party together with his girlfriend Märta Elander Wistén (30).
But things did not go as planned, as a spectacular drone show was supposed to entertain the guests, several Swedish media write.
– You will see something you have never seen before. Something similar has never been done in Northern Europe. Imagine several hundred drones taking off in the form of a kite and then hovering in the sky around the hotel, said Stordalen on the red carpet in front of Expressen.
Communications manager at Stordalen’s company Strawberry, Kenneth Hultgren, tells GP that an external signal was switched off. The show was eventually cancelled.
– This led to the first drones crashing into the water and being destroyed. We are in the process of troubleshooting, but in the end we chose to cancel the show.
– The company responsible for this has done many shows in the past and they have said that they have never experienced anything like this. We have test driven several times and it has gone well, he adds.
