Dresden Music Festival on the Internet – Wiener Zeitung Online

The Dresden Music Festival make the internet a stage in the corona crisis. As the originally planned festival is canceled due to the pandemic, there will be a live stream with performances by various artists on May 16 for 24 hours, as the organizer announced on Tuesday. Director Jan Vogler moderates together with the singer Ute Lemper.

Around 50 artists who actually wanted to perform in Dresden from May 12 or are connected to the Festival are speaking musically from their living rooms, including the violinist Gil Shaham, the cellist Mischa Maisky, singer-songwriter Jamie Cullum and the Senegalese Musician Pape Diouf.

“Especially in times of crisis, it is extremely important that we think of our audience, our artists and partners such as the city of Dresden, the Free State of Saxony and our sponsors, and that we celebrate the Dresden Music Festival 2020 intensively with them for at least 24 hours,” said Vogler . The stream will be broadcast on the website, the YouTube and Facebook channel of the music festival and via the channels of “Music Never Sleeps NYC” – an initiative that Vogler founded in his adopted home New York.
