Dresden: Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB) are pushing for corona masks

Dresden. That was new for the ticket inspectors and the service employees of the Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB): Until now, according to the general decree on Corona, they were allowed to work without masks. Now they too have to put on the mouth and nose protection on duty. Not just any, an FFP2 mask is required. Just as they have had to carry all passengers since Monday.

There was criticism on the very first day. Passengers in Dresden complained that they had seen service employees and ticket inspectors without a mask. Two examples: controllers were on duty on Monday afternoon on line 63 without the mouth and nose protection. A corresponding message was promptly sent to the transport company in the short message service Twitter. Two days later, a student wrote: “DVB staff with surgical masks and their noses hanging out on the train again.” He added that the staff had been wearing jackets marked “Info-Team”. In other words, clothing that clearly shows that they are people who work for the transport company.

The DVB officials reacted to the criticism on Monday. They wanted to have the clues checked and then communicate on Twitter. The announced answer finally came on Wednesday: With the company providing the inspectors, it should be ensured “as soon as possible” that all inspectors adhere to the Corona rules.

DVB spokesman Falk Lösch said that wearing a mask was previously only required for passengers, not for the workforce. The change “did not get around everywhere”, and it was similar to other transport companies. He assured: Since this Thursday all inspectors have been wearing the now mandatory FFP2 masks.

In the buses and trains of the transport companies, the mask requirement for passengers has been in place for more than a year. On the Internet the DVB explain this rule on their website. Stickers on the doors of buses and trains, notices on the trams and additional announcements point this out during the journey.
