In a note sent to the media this Wednesday by the Ministry of Public Health, it says that said contribution has an amount greater than 400 thousand dollars, it seeks to reduce the gaps for the storage and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines and others, both in the stalls and in collection centers at the provincial level. is to achieve better coverage and protection for the population in vaccines.

These resources, made up of two cold rooms and 20 refrigerators that will be located in 20 collection centers, seek a better implementation of the project to provide access to vaccines, especially in border areas of the country.

During the delivery ceremony, the representative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr. Olivier Ronveaux, highlighted the importance of said donation in strengthening the collective health of the country.

Meanwhile, the Consul General of Canada, Collin Holditch, on behalf of his government, expressed the satisfaction of supporting the Dominican Republic in this regard.

By the Ministry of Health. the Deputy Minister of Collective Health, Dr. Eladio Hernández, indicated that the contribution comes at the right time to fight for the public health of the country.

“I know that it is something that will not only contribute to the fight against COVID, but also to be able to work with the other vaccines, the 17 vaccine posts that we have, especially in the border area where we have the greatest need,” Hernández added. .

This also seeks to adapt processes aimed at strengthening knowledge for managing the cold chain, since there are still challenges in terms of storage capacity at different levels in the country. Nicole Batlle, director of the PAI, also participated.
