DPR Plenary Tensions, Trade Minister Threatened to be Forced Summons over Cooking Oil

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said his party will call the Minister of Trade (Trade Minister) Muhammad Lutfi related to the cooking oil crisis. He said that he would force Trade Minister Lutfi to be absent from the invitation to the third meeting.

At first, Dasco said that the DPR leadership had difficulties in carrying out its supervisory function regarding the cooking oil problem. The reason, he said, was that the Trade Minister Lutfi had twice been absent from the DPR’s invited meetings to discuss the cooking oil issue.

“For your information, the DPR in carrying out its supervisory function has experienced difficulties regarding this cooking oil. The Minister of Trade has been invited to consultation meetings twice, the second being unable to attend for reasons not necessarily coming and other reasons,” said Sufmi Dasco Ahmad in a plenary meeting at the complex. parliament, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (15/3/2022).

Dasco said it would give one last chance Trade Minister to discuss the issue of cooking oil with the House of Representatives. When Lutfi is still absent, he said, the DPR will call forcibly.

“Therefore, on the last occasion in this meeting, I said that if there is still a reason in the third invitation, then the DPR will use the existing rules and authorities to summon by force. Trade Minister in the DPR,” he said.

Member of Commission VI DPR PKS Faction Amin Ak previously conveyed his interruption in a plenary meeting regarding the cooking oil issue in the country. Amin highlighted the scarcity of cooking oil which required people to queue up until they died.

“It’s been 5 months since the cooking oil crisis has occurred. For over a month we have seen people in various regions have to queue long for 1-2 liters of cooking oil and some even die from exhaustion,” said Amin Ak in his interruption.

He then asked the DPR leadership to urge the government to overcome the cooking oil crisis.

“Through this esteemed Council session, I ask the leadership to urge the government to immediately stop the cooking oil crisis, stop the suffering of the people by making policies that are small-minded, and guard it as well as possible,” he said.

“Also a fair policy for small and medium businesses because they are the economic heroes of this nation,” he continued.
