DPR Agrees Pertamina to Adjust Non-Subsidized Fuel Prices Follow the Economy, will Pertamax Increase?

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Commission VI of the DPR agrees that the government through Pertamina adjust the price of fuel oil or non-subsidized and subsidized fuel. This is stated in the conclusion points of Commission VI DPR with PT Pertamina on Monday, (28/3/2022).

“Commission VI DPR RI supports the adjustment” fuel price non-subsidized, which follows the economic price of world oil to ensure the financial health of PT Pertamina (Persero) in carrying out government assignments,” stated one conclusion point read out in the RDP with the Pertamina President Director.

From Liputan6.com’s records, Pertamina has adjusted the price of non-subsidized fuel for Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite, and Pertamina Dex, in early March 2022. Only Pertamax non-subsidized fuel has not increased to date and is sold for Rp. 9,000 per liter.

Pertamax Price currently considered still far from the economic price. The ESDM Ministry previously calculated that the Pertamax fuel price could reach Rp 16,000 per liter economically in April 2022.

At the RDP, the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati, asked the DPR for support for an adjustment to the fuel price. “Today Pertamax has not followed the market mechanism, so maybe support is needed,” said Nicke.

Nicke explained that Pertamina has so far made price adjustments for several types of non-subsidized fuel, including Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite, and Pertamina Dex, which in volume are only 2 percent of Pertamina’s total fuel sales.

“Even Pertamax is used for good cars, so it should be increased because this is not for the poor,” said Nicke.

In addition to agreeing to adjust the price of fuel according to the economy, in the conclusion of the RDP, Commission VI of the DPR asked the government and PT Pertamina to immediately discuss the adjustment of subsidized and non-subsidized fuel and LPG prices due to the widening disparity in subsidized and non-subsidized prices and uncertain international price fluctuations.

Commission VI also asked the Government to be able to make payments on Pertamina’s receivables, to maintain the company’s financial condition.
