This morning, around 6 o’clock, firefighters received a call in Riga, where smoke rose from the windows of an apartment building. At the scene, it was found that 30 square meters of household belongings are burning in the apartment of the five-storey residential house.
19 people were evacuated from the smoked building and five more were rescued using rescue masks, one of whom was injured and handed over to the ambulance service medics. In less than an hour, this high-risk fire was localized and is currently being extinguished.
Last day, the SFRS received 53 calls: 30 – for extinguishing fires, including four forest fires, 11 – for rescue work, but 12 calls were assessed as deception.
Firefighters went to the calls where the waste burned, in two cases the forest ground cover, in four cases the burnt food left on the stove unattended, dry grass, car, TV, wooden structures in the warehouse, electrical cabinet, wiring, grain stubble, hay, combine, in two cases, barns, firewood, unmanaged building.
