Down Dog challenges subscriptions integrated on the App Store (and gets blocked)

Discovered during confinement – where she had given free access to her many exercises – the Down Dog yoga app seems to clash with Apple’s T & Cs. This is not the same problem as Hey messaging, but the difficulty also concerns in-app subscriptions.

Indeed, Down Dog offers users a free trial period to test your training programs before embarking on a paid formula . But, in the end, the app does not provide an automatic subscription, contrary to what is mentioned in the Apple Guidelines.

Normally, the applications include the subscription to a subscription, during the first launch. To access the trial, users are required to fill out the form (with payment authorization) free to cancel it before the deadline.

Finding that the approach forces a little hand (and that the conditions for canceling subscriptions are a little complex to find), Down Dog offers to subscribe in a second step, from the app or from its site. As a result, the publisher has just been blocked from its latest update, on the responsibility of complying with article 3.1.2. and implement the automatic subscription. « WoW ! » tweet developers who refuse to « charge those who forget to end the free trial ».
