Moskitos Essen reinforce the defensive with Tobias Schmitz
With 24-year-old defender Tobias Schmitz from Crocodiles Hamburg, Moskitos Essen stepped up their game again shortly before the end of the transfer. The left-handed shooter, who was born in Krefeld, is 1.91 m tall and weighs 94 kg. He has already gained experience in 21 DEL games for the Iserlohn Roosters and 34 DEL 2 games for the Bayreuth Tigers. In Hamburg this season he scored 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 11 games. With Tobias Schmitz, Essen have strengthened their defense after the many injury-related absences during the season. Tobias Schmitz will wear number 32.
Double defeat against Rostock
After a first mutual frisking, the first phase of the game belonged to the Rostockers, who were able to take the lead 0:1 after an individual mistake by the Moskitos. August von Ungern-Sternberg scored the goal in the 6th minute with a solo effort. Only towards the end of the first third did the Moskitos find their way into the game, but in the second half it was a different picture. Rostock rarely came dangerously in front of Fabian Hegmann’s goal, the Moskitos could not take advantage of some top-class chances, especially when they were outnumbered. André Huebscher scored a deserved equalizer in the 27th minute, but there was more in this third period because the opening goal was in the air several times. In the last section, the Moskitos initially failed to take advantage of another manpower game, when Mitch Bruijsten was outnumbered after a penalty against McLeod, Mitch Bruijsten had two top-class opportunities, which unfortunately did not bring any countable success. And with the majority, it was Steinmann who gave Rostock the lead in the 49th minute, after the referees unfortunately did not punish Rostock for icing. The Mosquitoes were now again chasing a deficit, all opportunities were exhausted shortly before the end to still achieve the equalizer, but Balla with the 1:3 into the empty Essen goal and Pauker with the 1:4 seven seconds before the end provided the Final point and ultimately another home defeat of the Mosquitoes.

The Moskitos conceded an unnecessary defeat on Sunday evening at the Rostock Piranhas. A good first third brought a 0:2 lead through goals from Saccomani (4th) and McLeod outnumbered (12th). In the second period, Rostock came out of the dressing room with more pressure and turned the game around by Dudas (23rd), Gerstung ( 34.) and Maylan (35.) to 3:2. A little later Glemser made it 3:3.
