Double celebration in Zichyújfalu: the Catholic church is 40 years old and the newborns were also welcomed

The Catholic church in Zichyújfalu was named after Prince St. Imre, who was born in Székesfehérvár and is also his patron saint. The building, handed over forty years ago, was consecrated on November 5, 1983 by the bishop of the Székesfehérvár Diocese, County Bishop Lajos Shvoy, according to the sources of the village. The jubilee was therefore commemorated on Sunday, November 5, as part of a farewell mass on the feast of St. Imre. Saint Imre is the patron saint of Hungarian youth, so in Zichyújfalu, babies born the previous year are also greeted and celebrated at this time.

Ilona Füzesiné Kolonics, the mayor of Zichyújfalu, told feol.hu: this time they can welcome six small children as the village’s new and youngest residents.

– We are very happy for them, and we hope that, as in previous years, there will be even more people to welcome in the next one, – said the mayor. Regarding the church, he added: they have tried to keep its surroundings in order in the past decades, and although not much has been allocated to its maintenance, he hopes that it will also be renovated in the future.

The mass was celebrated in the Catholic church in Zichyújfalu by Balázs Páli, a priest from Agárd, who told feol.hu:

– Saint Imre is the patron saint of the church, so we hold the farewell mass on his day, for which the children prepared with poems and songs – he revealed. The priest blessed the families before the Mass, and after the presentation by the Catholic religious teachers of the elementary school, the festive Mass could take place.
