Doom Eternal does not receive micro-transactions and skins can be achieved through play – Gaming – News

Doom Eternal will be released in two months and it has become clear that the game will not contain any micro transactions. Cosmetic items can only be obtained by playing the game and using the accumulated experience points.

Hugo Martin, the creative director van Doom Eternal, has in one answer on Facebook let them know that there is no in-game shop and that the experience points can only be used for cosmetic items. Martin emphasizes that they have no impact on the game and only look good. He states that Eternal is a game that costs $ 60 and is not a free game or a mobile game; according to him a ‘complete experience’ without a store is part of that. Unlocking cosmetic items, such as skins, will be completely free. He does not mention Lootboxes specifically, but with this statement Martin seems to indicate that they will also be absent.

The predecessor of Doom Eternal, the Doom released in 2016, also lacked micro transactions, although developer id Software sold a few multiplayer dlc. They were made available for free after the first year, so that each player had access to the extra playing fields, demons and weapons.

Doom Eternal is coming available on March 20. The game should have been released by the end of November last year, but the release was postponed by a few months. There will eventually also be a version for the Nintendo Switch, although the release date for this console is still unknown. Tweakers recently wrote a new one preview of Doom Eternal.
