Don’t Speculate, Just Watch Djoko Tjandra and Jiwasraya’s Case

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD asked the community not to connect Fire Attorney General’s Office building with the Djoko Tjandra and Jiwasraya cases.

“Don’t speculate that this is related to a particular case, this case, that case. Well, there are two cases currently being handled. The case of Djoko Tjandra is related to Attorney Pinangki and all of his family members there and the Jiwasraya case which has gone to court,” Mahfud said in a virtual press conference on Sunday (23/8/2020).

“We will just monitor it together, but there is no need to speculate that this is to protect this, and so on. Those who are speculative like that are shunned first,” said Mahfud.

He said the government, through the Attorney General’s Office, was serious about handling the Bank Bali collection rights case involving Djoko Tjandra as well as the Jiwasraya corruption case.

He stated that it was impossible for the government to lie and cover up something in the fire at the Attorney General’s Office building in Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta, Saturday (22/8/2020).

“It is impossible for the government to lie, hide something in a situation like this. Because now people have their own tools to find out and uncover,” Mahfud said in a virtual press conference on Sunday (23/8/2020).

“Therefore, the government has never had any intention of hiding cases, hiding people, etc. That is what I (can) tell now,” said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.

Attorney General’s Office ( AGO) caught fire on Saturday (22/8/2020) night. The fire started at around 19.10 WIB.
