SHAFTS – Petronas Yamaha SRT racer, Valentino Rossi, is at a crossroads. He was required to choose between retiring or continuing his career at MotoGP 2022.
Senior Italian journalist, Nico Cereghini, opened up about the continuation of the career of The Doctor – Rossi’s nickname. According to Cereghini, there are three reasons to keep racing next season.
First, Rossi can race with his younger brother, Luca Marini, in his own team, Aramco Racing Team VR46, in MotoGP 2022. VR46 has signed a contract with Dorna Sports that will allow them to compete in MotoGP for the next five years.
In addition, another reason Rossi has to keep racing is the new Michelin front tire that will be used next season. The new front tire will probably make Rossi more comfortable so he can perform even better.

Finally, the Italian could try his luck again at Ducati. Because, VR46 has signed a three-year contract to become a Ducati satellite team starting next season.
VR46 also became Ducati’s third satellite team in MotoGP 2022. Previously, Ducati already had two satellite teams, namely Pramac Racing and Gresini.
If he doesn’t retire and race for the VR46, Rossi has a chance to prove himself not a failure at Ducati. For your information, Rossi had defended Ducati in 2011-2012, but he failed to show off with the Italian factory team.
According to Cereghini, these three reasons could keep Rossi from racing next season. However, the final decision rests with the 42-year-old racer.
“As far as I’m concerned, there are various incentives to keep resisting it, such as the desire to race with his brother Luca, the new Michelin 2022 front tire which is windy so that it can give him more feeling and maybe finish it (race) well, or like the desire to test yourself. at Ducati, (Ducati now) is very different from the failures in 2010 and 2011,” said Cereghini, quoted from Tuttomotoriweb, Tuesday (29/6/2021).
Whatever Rossi’s decision must be respected. If he retires at the end of this season, he will always be remembered for his extraordinary achievements.
Rossi is one of the best riders in MotoGP history with a collection of nine world titles. A total of seven world titles won by Rossi in MotoGP which is the elite class.
Rossi’s achievement only lost to another MotoGP legend who also came from Italy, Giacomo Agostini. Senior Rossi holds the record as the racer with the most world titles, which is 15.
