Don’t be fooled. Scammers lure you into a fake Czech Post website Company News Budějcká Drbna

The financial administration has warned against fraudulent e-mails and text messages that seek to solicit confidential banking information from people for payment purposes from the financial administration. The attackers impersonate the Czech Post and from its fake website redirect the user to fill in bank details at payment gateways.

To allegedly obtain money from the financial administration, the attackers lead users to a forged link cekposta.cz, while the address of the Czech Post website is ceskaposta.cz. The financial administration published the appearance of the forged website. “This phishing campaign is again aimed at the public. It is not a legitimate request from the Czech Post, it is an attempt to create false confidentiality through the use of the Czech Post logo and thus create the presumption that it is a genuine request.” said a spokeswoman for the Directorate-General for Finance Zuzana Masatova.

She reminded that unknown and suspicious text messages, e-mails and especially their attachments should not be opened and responded to by people.

Fraudulent e-mails promising payment from the financial administration have appeared before. For example, in September 2014, the General Finance Directorate drew attention to a fake website, where users were sent e-mails informing them in English about the right to a tax refund.
