Donate to save lives

Founded a decade ago, the Châtillon-sur-Loire and Briare Association for Voluntary Blood Donation is resuming its activities at the start of the year, with a first meeting this afternoon at the medical center. Chatillonnais social.

“Our small structure includes six active members, in charge of raising awareness about donation, by putting up posters before the collections, but also by welcoming donors on the day of the collection”, underlines Annie Fortin, president of the entity, assisted by Lucette Rat at the secretariat and Jean-Luc Tiercelin at the treasury.

General assembly

“We have about fifty donors, on each session, in Châtillon, which is an honorable figure and which is a long-term one. The introduction of online appointment booking has made it possible to better manage the flow of donors, but for some alumni, the process is sometimes complex. As a reminder, you must be of legal age and weigh more than 50 kilos,” adds Annie Fortin. It specifies that the doctor of the French Blood Establishment (EFS), present during the collection, is the only one to decide, in connection with the questionnaire completed by the voluntary donor.

“In Briare, we see less regularity, which forces us to study ways to reach new donors in the area because we have to realize that the needs are great and that the lack is already there. People really need to get involved because each of us can be affected by this problem”, concludes Annie Fortin, who recalls that the association will hold its general meeting on Friday, February 10, from 6:30 p.m., at the hall of the town hall, and will organize a hike on Sunday 26 November.
