Donald Trump, here during a speech at his Florida residence in November 2022, has returned to Facebook and YouTube.

UNITED STATES. End of ban. Absent from Facebook and YouTube since he was banned after the capitol invasion in January 2021, Donald Trump has returned to two very important platforms: Facebook and YouTube.

The former American president (2016-2020) who is a candidate for the 2024 elections could post on Facebook since January but he waited until Friday March 17 to do so on Mark Zuckerberg’s network. He had been excluded from it while he was still in office in January 2021. “I’M BACK” (I’m back), he wrote faithful to the capital letters that made his reputation.

His exclusion from YouTube ended on Friday. And so it was a few hours after the announcement by the site hosting the videos that Donald Trump made his return. He posted the same video there as on Facebook, namely an excerpt from an old speech. “Sorry to keep you waiting, it was complicated”we hear the billionaire say in what seems to be a moment of his election night in 2016.

Campaigning on all networks for 2024

In January, he also got the opportunity to return to Instagram, which he still hasn’t done. He hasn’t returned to Twitter since he was allowed to in November after the network was taken over by Elon Musk. For the past two years, it has been mainly via his own social network, Truth Social, that he has communicated with American conservatives.

But he hinted that he will soon use all the tools at his disposal to campaign. Even if he retains an important rating with the Republicans, he is far from having won the game to compete in 2024. He currently has a declared candidate facing him: the former governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley. But his most serious rival could be Ron de Santis, governor of Florida who was brilliantly re-elected in the fall 2022 midterms.
