An internal election campaign information from the Trump camp leaks and shows how seriously Donald Trump takes the duel with RonDeSantis in the fight for the US presidency.

Des Moines (Iowa) – The Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantisis not yet officially running for president of the USA, but its announcement is expected in the coming week. Former US President Donald Trump is already in the middle of the election campaign and seems to be taking the duel with DeSantis seriously. Trump apparently wants to throw down the gauntlet in Iowa for the first time, a Trump campaign official leaked on Saturday.

Duel begins: Trump plans Iowa campaign event to coincide with DeSantis stay

As it became known on Saturday, Trump is apparently planning a campaign event in Iowa on May 13 in a park in the capital Des Moines. This is reported, among other things, by Washington Post. The information leaked to a Trump campaign official who asked to remain anonymous. The date of Trump’s Iowa trip falls on the same day that the governor of Florida is already in the US state. Iowa is also the state of USA, where the Republican contest for the White House traditionally begins. There is a lot at stake for both candidates in Iowa.

At the campaign event in mid-May, Trump wants to win supporters for the first Republican primary in Iowa. This decision, which according to Trump’s staff has been in the planning for weeks, is an indication that competition between DeSantis and Trump is intensifying. The ex-president attacks the governor from Florida and former hope of the republican now more and more direct.

It has long been known that DeSantis will participate in a summer fundraiser hosted by Rep. Rand Feenstra in Iowa on May 13th. In the presidential election eight years ago, Trump initially led in polls, but ultimately lost to his competitor at the time, Ted Cruz, whose election campaign was better organized. At the time, Trump had left the contact details of thousands of potential supporters in the state unedited.

Trump does not want to debate with party colleagues because of the “insurmountable lead”.

Trump’s former protégé is now seen as his biggest internal party competitor. Ron DeSantis is not yet officially in the US election campaign, but between the lines there are already digs at him his former supporter Trump read out. Instead of “Make America great again” the slogan of the governor of Florida is – no joke: “Make America Florida”. Direct taunts have also been heard. “I don’t know what it means to pay hush money to a porn star to ensure silence about an alleged affair,” DeSantis said at a press conference in March in the wake of an indictment against Trump in Manhattan, which served as a clear distinction against the ex-president was scored. There is no “daily drama” in his government work,” DeSantis said on another occasion.

Donald Trump avoids direct debate with Ron DeSantis

Apparently Trump does not want to have a direct debate with his party colleagues in the context of the US primaries. At least he scolded in last Tuesday his social network, Truth Social, that he is up for such trials given his solid lead not have to undergo. In the primary elections in the USA, the parties choose their respective candidates for the presidential elections. The candidates traditionally debate publicly beforehand.

The ex-president may shy away from direct confrontation with his biggest rival, who is considered the “intellectual” Trump and who is already saying goodbye in Florida of arch-conservative laws can. But a survey of Winthrop University in South Carolina according to 41 percent of respondents for Donald Trump as the Republican candidate in the US presidential election. The ex-president is far ahead of DeSantis, who only got 20 percent of the votes.
