On Wednesday this week, former US President Donald Trump issued a new press release in which he focuses on himself. The 74-year-old says that everyone must remember that he was responsible for getting the corona vaccine out to the people.
– I hope everyone remembers when they got the covid-19 vaccine, that if I were not president, you would not get the wonderful vaccine shot in five years, at best. And you most likely would not get it at all. I hope everyone remembers that, Trump wrote in a press release on Wednesday this week.
His press release has created many reactions in recent days, and has been spread everywhere on social media.
– Classic hysterical
US expert Hilmar Mjelde, researcher at the Norwegian Research Center (Norce), tells Dagbladet that this is classic Trump.
– It’s a classic hysterical exaggeration from Trump. He has always marketed himself as a world historical genius. Counterfactual history writing is a tough genre. But every post-war president had probably done a better job than Trump, because they at least had the political experience and role understanding that Trump lacked, Mjelde tells Dagbladet.
– But has Trump done anything right in this process, for Americans to get vaccinated?
– Yes. The Trump administration did important work on vaccine development and vaccination logistics. But Joe Biden’s administration has geared up for this and has implemented a more concentrated, effective and targeted national effort, says the US expert, before continuing:
– The Trump administration left too much of the coronary response to the states, and Trump himself did not take proactive leadership. He was neither able nor tried to take full advantage of the state apparatus, partly because he lacked political experience.

– Sees it goes well for Biden
Foreign correspondent in TV 2, Fredrik Græsvik, is one of those who have reacted to Trump’s new invention, through Twitter.
– The former president of the USA, Donald Trump, sees that Biden is doing well now, and has sent out a press release in which he reminds that under all other presidents, the drug manufacturers would spend at least 5 years developing vaccines. This is of course a lie. He misses enough attention, writes Græsvik.

Furthermore, US expert Mjelde is aware that Trump’s new press release is nowhere near getting as much attention as when he was president.
– Now that he has lost the presidency, he is most of all just an eccentric, Mjelde concludes.
Joe Biden’s administration replies that the Trump team did not give them a roadmap to distribute the vaccine across the country, at the change of president on January 20, writes Independent.
When Biden entered the White House, he said he wanted to see 100 million vaccinations administered in the first 100 days in office.
Banned from social media
It has been almost two months since Donald Trump was ousted as president, on January 20.
Trump has been involved in a number of scandals since he lost the election against Joe Biden in November 2020 and is, among other things, under investigation in the US state of Georgia, accused of having tried to influence the election.
In January cut New York all contracts with the Trump Organization. Local authorities believe Trump is involved in “criminal activity” as a result of the attack on Congress on January 6, and thereby broke the contract with the president’s organization.
Trump is also under investigation by the prosecution in New York. Recently, they received Donald Trump’s tax returns – something he himself was very reluctant to give up.
