Donald Trump Allegedly Plans to Cut Off Aid to Ukraine if Elected in 2024, Hungarian PM Claims

Donald Trump Claims he will Cut Off Aid to Ukraine if Elected President in 2024

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban Speaks Out

According to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, if Donald Trump is elected president in 2024, he will entirely cut off all aid to Ukraine. Orban made these claims during a recent interview, where he shared details of a meeting he had with the former U.S. president at Mar-a-Lago.

Championing Trump, Orban Opines on Ukraine-Russia Conflict

During the interview, Orban praised Trump’s capabilities and had only positive things to say about his meeting with the right-wing autocrat. Orban boldly asserted, “He will not give a penny in the Ukraine-Russia war. Therefore, the war will end, because it is obvious that Ukraine can not stand on its own feet.”

Orban further explained, “If the Americans don’t give money and weapons, along with the Europeans, then the war is over. And if the Americans don’t give money, the Europeans alone are unable to finance this war. And then the war is over.”

Hungary’s Different Stance on Aid to Ukraine

Hungary stands out from its western allies due to its refusal to provide aid to Ukraine. Orban, who has faced frequent criticism for his close relationship with Vladimir Putin, demurs that Ukraine cannot win a war against a nuclear-armed Russia.

Despite claiming that Trump has a precise plan to end the war, Orban did not disclose the specifics. Trump has previously boasted about swiftly ending the conflict ‘within 24 hours’, although he has not provided details about the method to achieve this.

Trump’s Affinity for Putin Raises Concerns

Trump, who is notably favored by Putin in the 2024 presidential contest, has cultivated strong ties with the Russian leader over the past eight years. The notion that his opposition to Ukraine funding has emboldened Republicans in Congress to delay aid and jeopardize the war effort is quite prevalent.
