AVROTROS and director Jesse Bleekemolen are making a documentary about Rikkie Kollé. She was crowned Miss Netherlands this year and received many hate messages and death threats after her crowning.
Bleekemolen has followed 22-year-old Kollé in recent months as she prepared for the Miss Universe pageants. She left for El Salvador on Thursday. The election will take place there on November 18.
The movie called The most beautiful woman in the Netherlands, can be seen at the NPO on December 21.
Kollé previously said that she found the online hatred “very intense”, but that she is above it. “I feel that it makes me stronger, that I want to work harder for my community. And it shows that we are far from ready in the Netherlands in terms of inclusivity.”
