Doctors refuse to examine unvaccinated patients

In Germany, a number of doctors’ offices have started accepting only vaccinated patients or those who have had Covid-19, as well as those with a negative test, Deutsche Welle reported.

At the front doors of some doctors’ offices, patients come across notes with warnings, and the explanation of the medics is that this way the office will not be endangered by quarantine or closure, BNR writes.

There are more and more doctors with such requirements, but there are also specialists who, despite the danger, do not restrict anyone’s access to their offices.

“Doctors must help everyone. Any discrimination – whether because of skin color or vaccination – is unacceptable,” said Christian Berger, president of the Bavarian Association of Public Health Insurance.

He also said that patients have the right to file complaints about denied medical care.

“On the other hand, the opinion of the Medical Association is not a law that we are obliged to comply with,” says orthopedist Dr. Bauer.

The Bavarian Ministry of Health has already clarified that, with a certain level of infection, access to indoor facilities is only allowed for those who have been vaccinated, have become ill and have been tested.

However, this provision of the local Infection Protection Act does not apply to doctors’ offices.

There are mixed reactions from both sides, but this legal issue needs to be clarified by politicians.
