Do you know how Instagram communicates with you?

An informed surfer is a safer user. With this in mind, Instagram released, through three videos (the first of which you can see here), some safety tips and relevant information so that people’s data is always safe, while they enjoy the platform.
The social network highlighted that “Instagram will never send you messages via Direct.” However, he announced that, as a user, you have a security resource that shows all the emails sent by Instagram to you.
This is Instagram emails. These help identify emails that are not legitimate, such as phishing emails or attempted scams that may appear to have been sent by Instagram.
To access Instagram emails, go to Settings. Select Security and click on Instagram Emails. The Security tab shows a list of emails related to the login and security of the account that Instagram sent in the last 14 days.
The Others tab shows a list of all the other emails that Instagram sent in the last 14 days that are not related to the security of your account.
Be wary of emails and messages claiming to be from Instagram’s security or support teams that ask you to provide your account information (such as username and password) or that ask you to click on a suspicious link.
“In case you receive this type of message, confirm in Instagram emails if it is a legitimate email. And remember, Instagram never sends official messages through Direct,” reported Instagram.
Do you know what two-step authentication is?
Two-step authentication is an additional security feature against unauthorized third-party access to your accounts.
When you activate it, in addition to your password, you will be asked for a security code to enter your Instagram account. This code can be obtained through a third-party authentication app or by a text message (SMS).
How to configure two-step authentication?
1. Access Settings and then enter Security.
2. Next, tap on Two-Step Authentication.
3. To activate this same function from a third-party authentication application, tap on that option and then tap on Advance.
4. In case you don’t have a third-party authentication app, you will be redirected to download and install one.
5. When activated, an Instagram code will be sent to your authentication app.
6. Open the app and copy the code. Then go back to Instagram, enter the code and tap Advance to verify.
7. To activate via SMS, tap on the Text Message option, add your phone number to receive the Instagram code. Enter the code sent and tap Advance to verify.
When the two-step authentication is verified, you will have access to the verification codes that allow access to your account in case you cannot receive the code via SMS or third-party app. Write them down and keep them in a safe place.
